Jim Wilson
President Emeritus 2008
President 1999-2001
President Elect 1998-1999
North 3 Area Representative 1994-1998
Sierra College, Retired

Jim Wilson has had many opportunities to learn and has taken most of them. He values his association with Sierra College for over 40 years, as a student, as classified staff (multi-media specialist and Biological Sciences assistant) and as a teacher.

As an educational advocate, Jim has completed his bachelors’ and masters’ degrees in Biological Sciences (at California State Universities, Chico and Sacramento, respectively), and now working to complete his fifth degree at Sierra College in Applied Art and Design to accompany his Photography and other related degrees. From being heavily involved in participatory governance at Sierra, he joined 4CS (the California Community Colleges Classified Senate) and served in many capacities including as 4CS President from 1999 through 2001. He is a successful leader, writer, biologist, photographer, speaker, workshop facilitator and member of the 4CS Board.

He is a long-time 4CS advocate having assisted 4CS in many capacities and by bringing attention to the important contributions made each day by classified staff. Now as a retired staff member and continuing to believe in the tremendous potential of classified staff to improve the California Community Colleges, Jim plans to increase his efforts to support the Mission of 4CS by participating on the Board as a President Emeritus, working with local classified senates, improving statewide resources for senates and staff, advocating for the unique values that classified staff can bring to the colleges, helping others to individually discover their abilities, and continuing to learn and share information in the areas of communication, governance and technology/graphic arts. Overall, he enjoys accomplishing what needs to be done, providing leadership as needed.

In addition to his dedication to 4CS, he plans on perusing his personal graphic/photographic interests, spending more time traveling, hiking/backpacking, exercising, and, not least, playing; seriously playing.
