Regions and Areas List

4CS Members Restructure: Regions 1-3, Areas A-R
The State of California and its community colleges are divided into five representational "Regions" for the organizational purposes of 4CS membership and governance representation. The five Regions are named North, Bay, Central, Southwest and Southeast.
Each Region is divided into three "Areas", for example "North 1", "North 2", and "North 3". The size of the Area is based upon the factors of district population, number of colleges, and the distances between colleges.
The 4CS Board of Directors consist of Officers and Area Representatives, and other non-voting members. Under the President, the two Vice Presidents oversee 4CS activities and communications within their respective regions of the state. The North Vice President works directly with the "North", "Bay" and "Central" Regions and their Area Representatives on the Board. The South Vice President works directly with the "Southwest" and "Southeast" Regions and their Area Representatives on the Board.
Each Area has an Area Representative that serves as a liaison between 4CS and its members, the local classified senates. Each Area Representative is a voting member of the 4CS Executive Board (Board of Directors).
Area Representatives are elected by the active Classified Senates within their Area. Senates and classified staff within each Area can contact their respective Area Representative directly for information or assistance as needed. Each classified senate should keep their Area Representative informed as to any local issues or changes to the senate leadership. In addition, Area Representatives and other members of the 4CS Executive Board are often available to attend local senate meetings at their request and as can be arranged.
In an effort to maintain more current records of our members, senates are requested to complete our Annual Membership Update form. The information this form provides helps us to stay connected and serve our members more effectively.
