4CS Organization
Regions and Areas List
The State of California and its Community Colleges are divided into five representational "Regions" for the organizational purposes of 4CS membership and governance representation. The five Regions are named North, Bay, Central, Southwest and Southeast.
The 4CS Board of Directors consist of Officers and Area Representatives. Under the President, the Vice President (North) oversees 4CS activities and communications within the northern regions of the state. The north regions include "North", "Bay" and "Central". The southern regions of the state include "Southwest" and "Southeast". They are the primary responsibility of the Vice President (South) to coordinate. The North and South Vice Presidents are assisted by the local 4CS Area Representatives.
Each Region is divided into three "Areas", for example North 1, North 2, and North 3. The size of the Area is based upon the factors of district population, number of colleges, and the distances between colleges.
Each Area has an Area Representative that serves as a liaison between 4CS and its members, the local classified senates. Each Area Representative is a voting member of the 4CS Executive Board (Board of Directors).
Area Representatives are elected by the active Classified Senates within each specific Areas. Senates and classified staff with each Area can contact their respective Area Representative for information or assistance as needed. Each senate should keep their Area Representative informed as to any local issues or changes to the senate leadership. In an effort to maintain more current records of our members, senates are requested to complete our current 4CS Update Sheet (Word download), at least once a year. The information the sheet provides helps us to stay connected and serve our members more effectively. In additions, Area Representatives and other members of the 4CS Executive Board are available to attend local senate meetings if invited.
