Leadership is defined as the action of leading a group of people, however, this eliminates the nuances of what it takes to lead a group. Each of us believe we have a solid idea about what it means to be a good leader, but when it comes to defining the actual concept, the picture is not so clear. For some, leadership is motivation, for others, it equals results or is inspiration. To me, a leader is at the service of the team, and this is how I see my role as the 4CS Representative for Central 1; I am in this role to help support the needs of these Classified Senates by being a resource and liaison for them. Leadership is not just about leading other people, it is also about developing skills and guiding others to become better leaders and thrive.

The idea that the networks and relationships we build are integral to the well-being of ourselves and the microsystems that we create, has been reinforced with my studies in Sociology and put into practice with my governance work at my college campus.  These collegiate relationships are fostered through mutual respect and understanding as we strive toward a shared goal, in this case, our goals are to assist classified professionals in their professional development and growth. This goal is something that can be achieved with a strong relationship on our campuses and throughout the state. I am passionate about making classified professionals feel that they have a legitimate voice on their campus and that they are able to be part of the changes that are inevitable on the campus where they work. I believe it is necessary to improve and increase the participation of classified professionals in campus governance.

Aside from the governance and student focused life, I am also an avid home baker. There is something incredibly satisfying about being able to step foot into the kitchen and know that steps a, b, and c will lead to creating something delicious and shareable with others. Additionally, I am married, have four fur-babies, enjoy traveling and attending live music events. I tend to be a social butterfly and do love a good conversation over a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or a pint of local, craft beer.
