Brenda Rogers
West Valley College
Southwest 1 Area Representive

After earning a Professional Office Skills Training (POST) certificate from West Valley College, Brenda Rogers began her career in higher education in January 1999 as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Advancement for the West Valley-Mission Community College District where she worked for three years. After that, she was the Senior Executive Assistant to the West Valley College President for fourteen years and now serves as the Executive Assistant to the Chancellor at WVMCCD.

When Brenda first started in the Advancement office, she served for two years as SEIU Steward. She has been an active member of the West Valley College Classified Senate for over twelve years and has been the Senate's Treasurer since 2014. In the President's Office, Brenda served as the Secretary to College Council, the highest participatory governance committee at the college, where she learned the value of effective participatory governance in college-wide decision-making and the benefits of having a strong classified voice supporting student success. She has also been a member of the Global Citizenship Committee, a founding member and Chair of the College Sustainability Committee for four years, a classified staff representative on numerous hiring committees for administrative positions, a Notary Public for the District, and a member of the Student Discipline Advisory Board.

Brenda currently is the 4CS Southwest 1 Area Representative, serving until the next election in spring 2020 when she plans to run for reelection. She previously served for a year in 2017-2018 as the Bay 3 Area Representative. In assuming this responsibility, her goal is to listen to and learn from other classified colleagues at different institutions, and to advocate for the wellbeing, growth, and development of classified staff on a statewide level.
