Melanie Haynie
Southeast 1
MiraCosta College

I began working for MiraCosta College in 1998 while completing coursework to transfer to UCSD. I finally became involved with my Classified Senate in 2004, when I was elected to serve as a senator. Since that time, I have had the opportunity to serve as both Vice President and President, as well as chair and serve on a variety of Senate and district-wide committees. The experience of the last few years has given me the opportunity to develop a whole new set of skills and to grow both professionally and personally. Although I am no longer a member of the Classified Senate Council, I continue to stay involved by chairing several Senate committees and serving on the Planning and Budgeting Council.

I believe that shared governance is what makes an institution great. It is my hope that I can share what I have learned to help Classified involvement in shared governance continue to grow.
